Wow! So much has happened since I last posted here.
Family: We're expecting another grandchild this summer - a boy, due late July.
Spiritually: I've had a tremendous musical experience playing/singing with the Celebration Band at Broadway UMC since last August (about the time of my last post). We provide music for the 9:30 a.m. Celebration service - sort of a coffee-house-style setting. It's such a great group of folks with whom to enjoy music and worship!
Physically: Intended to lose weight, but still stuck in the 240s. Better weather has returned and time to get the old bike out again. That always does the trick. However, age is showing itself with my right knee. Stairs are really hard, so I'm wondering how biking will be this year. Maybe this is a spiritual issue too - like a prayer request. Blood pressure and diabetes are staying under control.
Work: I've enjoyed about 15 months in my job here in Indy, and still loving it. It's often stressful, but the people we are helping have stressful lives, and we're making a difference so many times. It fits my tendency towards ministry and service.
Politically: "Hurray for Health Care Reform!" It's not a perfect bill, but it's a much needed step in the right direction. Although I can't afford it, I have often said that I would be willing to pay higher premiums for less coverage so those who have no coverage can have basic coverage. We should do whatever it takes to insure all people living within our borders. It should be available as a part of our American principle that we have the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." I'll say it again, "Hurray for Health Care Reform!" --- Now, let's move on to immigration reform. After all, our ancestors were immigrants at one time (unless you're Native American).
11/8/2016 addition:
I still say that I'm willing to pay more in health premiums in order to allow those who did not, or do not, have health insurance to get it. I still say that ACA is not a perfect bill, but it certainly took us further in the right direction than any administration in my lifetime has done on this topic.
